Benefacts Legacy · 2021 snapshot

Benefacts was Ireland’s nonprofit data service. It ceased operations in March 2022, so this is a frozen snapshot dated 31 December 2021 — a legacy reference, never updated and not live data. It is supplementary only: every Benefacts value on this site is marked with an amber Benefacts tag, and the whole source can be switched off from the homepage filter sidebar. The site works fully without it — just with less historical detail.

Regulatory data

Supplementary registration-style fields for ~11,700 charities matched to the live register: county, Eircode, CHY (Revenue) number, and Benefacts’ structured 12-sector / 54-subsector taxonomy (with stable codes). Surfaced in the charity detail panel.

Financial data

A multi-year financial time series (financial years 2013–2021) for ~5,700 charities: total income, government and non-government funding, average number of employees, and audit status. Used to extend the income trend chart back before the Regulator’s coverage and to power the “Most Government-Dependent Charities” insight. Where Benefacts and the Regulator overlap, the Regulator’s figures take precedence.
